Our thoughts and prayers are with the people of Manchester. We celebrate the world’s first city of the Industrial Revolution through to the birthplace of the world’s first computer. We celebrate the city which took it upon itself to build the Manchester Ship Canal. To a city founded on its English and Irish, its Protestant and Catholic traditions and which made its football teams. Today a city that embraces its Pakistani and Indian communities too. Our first city which unites Health and Social Care. From Joy Division to Oasis its music and arts lead the world and today we share its grief and celebrate its future. United it stands for and united we are with this our great city.
