Portascanner® AIRTIGHT is our most advanced ultrasonic room integrity testing tool, contributing to optimal airtightness. Portascanner® AIRTIGHT locates and quantifies even the smallest of leaks and can automatically analyse and consolidate this data, to present these results as indications of a room’s airtightness. This allows for quick testing with extreme precision for applications in the construction, maintenance, or medical fields.

The most accurate and fast acting constants loss monitoring system of its kind. Capable of detecting a loss of agent mass to within 1% in Inert gas, CO2 and Clean Agent systems, and in addition to weigh loss, will provide accurate percentage pressure loss of Inert gas systems associated with agent contents leakage.

The PermaMass® FEATHERWEIGHT is only manufactured to bespoke requirements.

Portatank® is a handheld, portable, and battery powered liquid level indicator designed to non-invasively, accurately, and reliably measure the level of liquid within a tank. Portatank® is suitable for application on vessels from 0.5m to 15m in diameter and can reliably detect the level of most clean liquids in metal, plastic, or glass vessels. It is also commonly used to detect oil levels in transformers in both pole mounted or pad mounted transformers.

On a mine site, fire hazards may occur in and around process plants, underground conveyors, static and mobile plants, draglines, workshops, substations, monitored control rooms and switch rooms. All mines have highly expensive and mission critical equipment that typically operate day and night under extremely hostile conditions: vast, remote, and difficult to access environments, especially underground. In many cases fixed fire suppression systems are the preferred systems installed to protect the high value assets, to safeguard the operators and to guarantee business continuity

Case Study: Zambia Copper Mine switches to Ultrasonic Level Sensor

  • One company who researched the market to find an easier, accurate and more efficient method for inspecting their fire system is a copper mining project in Zambia.
  • This well-established, growing mining company annually produces hundreds of thousands of tonnes of copper worldwide.
  • The Head of Instrumentation discovered an innovative method: Portalevel® ultrasonic technology.
  • Portalevel® makes servicing quicker and requires just one person to identify the liquid level of agent inside the cylinders. There is no need to turn off or dismantle the system. By testing in situ, the integrity of the system is maintained and there is no increased risk to people or facility by shutting down the system for the duration of maintenance checks.

Case Study: Canadian Mining Vehicle Servicing Company chooses Liquid Level Indicator

  • Another company who adopted cheaper, faster and better technology is a Heavy Equipment Servicing Company in Canada, who use Portalevel® MAX PLUS technology to service fire suppression systems on large mining equipment.
  • Using the Portalevel® MAX PLUS allows them to conduct safer and more efficient inspections.
  • As the Portalevel® MAX PLUS is portable, the Servicing Company is able to use their one unit to service four sites, making servicing cheaper and easier for them.

Refuge Chambers & Shelters

Despite substantial effort taken by countries to reduce risk; explosions are still common events in mining and industry. Refuge shelters are built to provide isolated breathable air when air quality has been compromised. These refuge chambers must maintain positive pressure to ensure hazardous gases in the area do not enter the chamber. There can be no leakage into the chamber from any external point. These chambers need to be maintained regularly because they are relied upon when accidents or explosions happen.

Therefore, these escape pods, need to be airtight in order to maintain its positive pressure and prevents ingress of dangerous gases. Testing of airtightness of the pods for leak sites is vital to complement the gas sensing applications within the pods, such as monitoring the oxygen levels or dangerous gas levels. This ensures the critical infrastructure is fit-for-purpose in the event of an emergency. The Portascanner® AIRTIGHT 520 allows maintenance operators to ensure the pods are sufficiently airtight by locating any leaks and quantifying the air permeability through them. The Portascanner® AIRTIGHT 520 consists of the ultrasound generator and ultrasound receiver. The handheld ultrasound generator produces ultrasonic signal that fills the enclosure and the handheld ultrasound receiver is able to locate and quantify the extent of any leaks through the escaped ultrasound signal through gaps in the seal. Testing for airtightness can now be completed faster, better and more efficiently, and therefore cheaper, with the Portascanner® AIRTIGHT 520. Leaks with a diameter as small as 0.5mm can now be detected, quickly located and quantified with the Portascanner® AIRTIGHT 520 to ensure Mining Refuge Chambers are airtight.
