Our Chairman, Carl Stephen Patrick Hunter OBE was thrilled to read of our strengthening partnership with Australia:
“A UK-Australia FTA will cement the shared values and technology-led relationship between our countries. For 20 years my company has worked with Australian companies as a hub to trade across the Indo-Pacific region and today Asia accounts for 40% of our exports. Of specific interest to us are the potential FTA provisions to energise mutual success in the Anglo-Australian SME communities in our world-leading science and technology which we are creating at Coltraco’s Durham Institute of Research, Development and Invention (DIRDI) and we wish to work with Australian companies within this forthcoming FTA to exploit across Asia. Within DIRDI we will create the Centre for Underwater Acoustic Analysis and of specific interest to the UK and Australia will be our work in the polar regions where both Australia and the United Kingdom have interests as fellow Antarctic Treaty nations. We look forward to supporting the Royal Australian Navy’s Hunter Class Frigate Programme; based on the Royal Navy’s Type 26 anti-submarine warfare frigate design.”
