We care about your data in our privacy policy.

Inergen® systems protect important assets. So, it makes sense to check they are ready to respond to the unthinkable.

Look no further! Portagas®, is a revolutionary solution. It non-invasively checks the cylinder, providing accurate information about the pressure and contents.

Portagas® can distinguish between:

a change in pressure due to temperature and

a change in pressure due to loss of contents.

So, you can be sure that the cylinder has sufficient contents.

With our innovative non-invasive acoustic technology, you can easily monitor any non-liquified gaseous agent. Plus, adding new gases to the database is simple and seamless.

Keep your high-value assets and critical facilities safe with Portagas®.

With Portagas®, you can precisely detect minor changes in internal pressure, comfortably exceeding the 5-10% agent and pressure loss thresholds cited in regulations such as NFPA 2001 and ISO 14520.

  • Pioneering: First of its kind to monitor inert gas cylinders in an intuitive Android platform.
  • Database: Add new Gases and save them for reports.
  • Reporting: Organize and save your maintenance records by date, time, site and cylinder for easy reference.
  • Export data: Export your maintenance records as a CSV file or PDF report via email or USB to enhance your service reports.
  • Regulation Compliance: Stay compliant with the industry standards of NFPA 2001 & ISO 14520-1.

What is Portagas® ?

This instrumentation is an acoustic, non-invasive pressure monitoring system for inert gas systems. It is a unique and innovative solution designed to monitor the pressure of pressurised, non-liquefied inert gases and compressed gas cylinders, including Inergen®, Nitrogen, Oxygen, Propane, Methane, Chlorine, Ammonia, Hydrogen, and CO2.

It uses sophisticated signal processing and acoustic technology to detect minor fluctuations in internal cylinder pressure with precision below the 5% required by regulations and by detecting marginal changes in the internal cylinder pressure making it a valuable tool for ensuring safety and compliance.

A WORLD FIRST – Our innovative technology offers non-invasive and non-destructive monitoring of pressurised, inert gas systems, making it a World-first.

INTELLIGENT PRESSURE MONITORING – Our technology utilises a built-in infrared thermometer to automatically adjust measurements for temperature changes, distinguishing between temperature-induced pressure changes and actual loss of contents.

UNLIKE PRESSURE GAUGES – Our technology is not prone to the mechanical issues that may affect traditional pressure gauges, such as needle sticking or vibrations causing inaccurate readings

This instrumentation has applications across multiple sectors, including:

  • Healthcare and Pharmaceutical: Respiratory therapy, anesthesia, and other medical applications, or in the production of medicine.
  • Food and Beverage: Carbonation and preservation of food and beverages.
  • Oil and Gas: Maintain pressure and prevent corrosion in oil and gas pipelines.
  • Manufacturing: Used in welding, cutting, and other industrial processes.
  • Aerospace: Pressurisation and propulsion.
  • Refrigeration: Refrigerants in commercial and industrial refrigeration systems.

Pressurised gas systems and temperature:

Pressure of a sealed container is directly related to its temperature. As a result traditional pressure gauges alone cannot provide a reliable indication pressure and contents of a sealed system. The Portagas® is an innovative solution to this issue by having an infra-red thermometer built into the sensor that will take the temperature at the time of measurement. This temperature is then used, along with fill pressure and fill temperature, to determine precisely what the pressure should be at the current temperature. We use the most accurate models available for pressurised gases in making these adjustments, accounting for the intrinsic forces and characteristics of the contained gas.

Inergen® is typically stored in seamless cylinders at pressures between 100-200 Bar. At such pressures they are subject to slow seepage of contents or occasionally accidental discharge. If the gas is insufficient to develop the design concentration required the fire event will not be extinguished. This is used to detect even minor changes in the internal pressure, with precision comfortably exceeding the 5-10% agent and pressure loss thresholds cited in regulations such as NFPA 2001 and ISO 14520.
