It is with deep regret that we announce the peaceful passing of Mr Eric Charlton Hunter Chairman and inventor of the flagship product the Portalevel®, Saturday 16th December 2017 in Taunton, Somerset, in England on Saturday evening 16th of December 2017.

We are saddened to lose a most wonderful man, head of the family and the inspiration for starting the business 30 years ago. At the same time, we rejoice that he is now re-united with his beloved Wife. We pray for them both.

Mr. E. C. Hunter, a former Royal Navy Submariner spent 27 years with the Royal Navy and the Admiralty Research Laboratories specialising in sonar technologies. He began research and inventing the flagship product Portalevel – the world’s first portable ultrasonic liquid level indicator – in 1987 and starting the company in 1991 with his Son Mr Carl Stephen Patrick Hunter, our CEO. Together they developed a company committed to integrity, delivering safety on land and at sea and to valuing its people.

Following his retirement from the Royal Navy, Mr. E C Hunter worked in commercial shipping. His understanding of ultrasonic capabilities opened a wide world for this company and today we work in 109 countries exporting 89% of our products and systems. Today Portalevel has undergone 9 generations and is in operation worldwide across the Marine, Naval, Fire, Energy and multiple other industries including Wind Power.

He is succeeded in his roles by his Son and our Chief Executive Carl, who says, “My Father was my Father, my Friend, my inspiration and my privilege”.

May He Rest In Peace.
