Portalevel® ADVANCED quickly and accurately determines the liquid level in a wide range of liquefied fire suppression agents, including CO2, FM200™, and NOVEC™1230. The device features a high-contrast OLED display that clearly indicates the cylinder contents phase, showing either “GAS” or “LIQUID.”
Signal Viewer
The integrated signal viewer provides a real-time, oscilloscope-like display of the ultrasound signal, allowing users to observe the signal’s response and visually confirm phase transitions. This added clarity supports more precise identification of the liquid level, making measurements quicker and more reliable, delivering accuracy within ±1mm of the true liquid level in cylinder diameters ranging from 110mm to 700mm.
The combination of the Portalevel® ADVANCED and Portasteele® CALCULATOR uses our decades of experience in ultrasonic engineering and collaboration with fire suppression system manufacturers to allow a user to clearly determine the agent weight from the liquid level without having to physically weigh the cylinder. The benefits of this are:
Traceability: The liquid level found is traceable to the agent weight which is the only documented evidence of fire suppression cylinder contents from the manufacturer
Temperature Correction: Any fluctuations in liquid level as a result of temperature changes is automatically accounted for in the calculations, giving you the true agent contents at all times regardless of temperature
All measurements are saved and recorded with time & date stamp, for effective audit trail and to comply with relevant ISO and NFPA regulations where agent weight is required to be reported
With over 30 years of experience in developing ultrasonic liquid level indicators, Coltraco Ultrasonics is a leader in this field. Our instruments are crafted to the highest standards in the UK using premium materials, offering superior value and reliability, backed by our unique position in research and development.

The Portalevel® ADVANCED is an ultrasonic liquid level indicator designed to quickly and accurately monitor the contents of fire suppression system cylinders without the need to disconnect or weigh them. Using ultrasonic technology, it detects the liquid level inside a range of cylinders, ensuring systems remain compliant and fully operational.
The Portalevel® ADVANCED can measure a wide variety of liquid-based fire suppression agents, including CO₂, FM-200®, NOVEC™ 1230, FE-13™, and many others. It is compatible with most common cylinder types used in marine, industrial, and commercial fire protection systems.
Yes, the Portalevel® ADVANCED is specifically designed for ease of use. Most operators can be trained within minutes thanks to its simple interface and clear instructions. Coltraco Ultrasonics also provides comprehensive user manuals, training videos, and optional onsite or online training sessions.
The Portalevel® ADVANCED is widely used across industries that rely on critical fire suppression systems, including shipping, offshore oil and gas, data centers, power generation, defence, and manufacturing. It ensures compliance and enhances safety in environments where system integrity is vital.
